My “Fix This Now” List for Warhammer Online

Warhammer Online, White Lions

I’ve looked back on my first week’s posts following the launch of Warhammer Online and realized I seem to be giving Mythic a pass on what isn’t all that great about WAR. So, for the record, here are some of the things I think Mythic needs to address sooner, rather than later:

  1. I want my pet toolbar to stay visible when my pet is active and I don’t want Ravi to forget that we are in the middle of a heated battle at random intervals. Interestingly enough, this appears to happen more in PvE — I guess he likes RvR. Fix the toolbar and the pet AI, please!
  2. Warhammer Online stops responding and has to be ended using “Task Manager” when I use the “Exit Game” option on the WAR menu. Actually, this happens whenever I try to quit the game — whether from in-game or from the character select screen. This is annoying.
  3. Why does my equipment (EQUIPPED items!!!) randomly get thrown into my crafting window, where it will be destroyed if I don’t catch the switcheroo?
  4. When I press the “Delete” button on a mail message, I expect the message I am clicking on to be deleted — NOT the last one in the mailbox. This cost me my “Librams of Insight” and probably some coin from the Auction House before I realized what was actually happening when I did that.
  5. Stop the gold spammers, or at least stop them from ignoring “/ignore”. Also, the “we’ve banned character-x” was fun the first time, not so much after that.
  6. I changed the keybind to popup the map to an auxiliary mouse button because I was pressing “M” when I meant to press “N”. Maps popping up in combat is not good. This worked, until I logged out. I have other keys mapped and they stick… what gives? Are you just trying to get me killed? (Trust me, I can manage that quite well on my own.)
  7. Why are some items flagged as “cannot be dyed” — other than named armor sets, and I’m not sure whether they fall into this category or not — I don’t see why any item should not be able to be dyed. After earning the title “The Fashionable” because of my keen fashion sense, I’m now running around in armor that looks just like my level 0 newbie armor because it cannot be dyed. I already look like every other White Lion out there, at least let me choose my color scheme.
  8. Let us link items in chat. Please!!!!!
  9. Can we please get either a “Recall to Capital City” or “Recall to War Camp” ability? Unlike Spinks, I don’t find running to the War Camp to catch a flight to town to put things in the bank or on the Auction House to be immersive. I find it time-consuming.
  10. OK, this one doesn’t have to be “fixed”, I just want it changed and it’s my blog and I’ll whine if I want to… Can we, pretty please, choose what our War Lion will look like? I don’t like the striped ones or the spotted ones. Just let us choose a model and then they can “grow up” from there. I’d love to choose their hairstyle and armor, but I’d settle for color and fur pattern. Pretty please, with sugar on top? Sometime?
  11. I don’t have a CTD problem, but for all of those who do: this should be your number 1 priority (after pet problems… Oh, okay, it should be your number 1 priority).

Once your guild can access the Viper Pit and has the appropriate rank, you can buy teleport scrolls that will let you transport back to the Guild Tavern. Although the vendor is bugged right now (from what i read in US forums) and the city has to be rank 2, it’s a nice way to solve it.

@Thulf - Thanks! I didn’t know that. I’ve been carefully hoarding the recall scroll charges I got for being a Veteran Newsletter subscriber. I’ll have to head over to Altdorf and check out the Viper Pit. We have access and the city is at Rank 2 from what I understand.

@Swisshammer - Thanks for the plug!

No problem, I’ve been reading your blog for a little while, always good stuff! I recently made my own ;)

Of course in Altdorf I’m sure the guild tavern will have some other boring name (I play a Black Orc) like Pretzelbar…

I saw a bug when you fly out through the flight master, your pet lion runs along with you in the air for awhile LOL

The Guild Tavern in Altdorf is called Sigmar’s Hammer, right behind the Guild Registrar on the city map.

And yes, the bugger’s bugged atm. But that scroll’s there and ready to be bought, it just for some reason cannot be.

PS - Esri… I’m actually thinking about rolling another character until the WL is fixed. Couldn’t agree more about the bugs with the pet. It’s driving me insane and I imagine it must be even more so for folks with more play time than myself.

It may be “observer error”, but I think the pet toolbar problems are getting worse. Every time I login recently I have to dismiss Ravi and recall him in order to get a toolbar. If I zone, enter a scenario, take a flight to Altdorf… bye-bye toolbar. That said, a missing toolbar doesn’t always mean that the pet is unresponsive… Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn’t.

@JoBildo - I’m not giving up! The White Lion brought me to Warhammer. I plan to stick it out. Anyway, I don’t have that much more time than you to play. ;)

Your guild has to be a certain rank (15 I think?) to purchase and use the capital city recall scrolls. That’s why the vendor will not sell them to you.

  12. Esri  ·  October 3, 2008 @5:08 pm

@Greymane - Thanks! That explains it. It would be nice if the item was filtered as “unavailable” or whatever the checkbox on the the merchants say. We made 12 today, so we’re not that far off. I’ll let the other guild members know.
